Amiss, investigator of topography, land values, titles, condition of prop-, erty, etc in the Shenandoah National Park area of the Blue Ridge in this county, the work being done under the supervision of the state conservation conimls-slon, has discovered 'Nature's Sugar Bowl" carved out "of the sides of the Bine Ridge and Tanner's Ridge, fir Marksville district. The owner of the natural wonder Is "Matt" Nauman. 70 years old.

These occupants of the natural wonder look upon Nauman as their best friend, having no rent to pay nor worry over the approach of tax paying seasons. Nauman pays all the taxes on the 5,000 acres and keeps the houses in repair. Years ago Nauman conceived the idea that a hotel on his Tanner Ridge tract would be a-paylng proposition and set about building the Nauman hotel on the side of the mountain overlooking his natural wonder the. "Sugar; Bowl." The twenty-room hotel was the result of Nauman's vision.

Guests of the hostelry, however, iwere few and far between. Bad roads; worked ruin to Nauman's enter prise. For years he spent each summer at his elevated hotel, waiting the coming of guests.
