Holt In The News Proximity to grandkids lures resident to area Now retired, local resident Joe Murphy said he finally has the time to do what he loves doing the most spending time with his two grandchildren. "I just love living here and having fun with them," he said. "I finally get to do everything that I couldn't do when I was working or in the Navy." Murphy, along with his wife, moved to the area from the Tidewater region about six years ago when Murphy retired following a career in the Navy and as a civil service worker.

He said he chose to come to the area largely because family, including his 12- year-old and 14-year-old grandchildren, live here. Murphy said he has no regrets about moving to the area, and said he especially enjoys how the region resembles the small town he grew up in northern Georgia. In addition to exploring the outdoors with his grandchildren, he said he often helps them with activities, such as crosscountry running and preparing for science fairs. "We do just about anything connected with school or other things together," he said. Name: Joe Favorite book: Murphy "None in particular, Occupation: but mostly any Retired Westerns."
