Cathy Quate, president, recognized guests and firsttimers. National president Jim and Judy McKinney attended the meeting. Ruritan members discussed plans to build a Habitat for Humanity House. AARP hear about religious education MOUNT CRAWFORD The AARP, Gypsy Hill Chapter 3972, met May 12 at Evers Restaurant.

Debbie Caywood of Augusta Regional SPCA and Gary Sheffer were guests. Lynda Sheffer, a Weekday Religious Education teacher for the city of Staunton, presented a program of music and information about WRE. "Happy Birthday" was sung to those with birthdays in May, and "Happy Anniversary" was sung to Phyllis Painter. Seven members of the chapter attended the Northwest Council meeting April 18. Mildred Johnson reported that cards had been sent to those who were sick or hospitalized.

Evelyn Cook and Carl Hickman won the 50-50 drawing. Lions announce raffle winner WEYERS CAVE Weyers Cave Lions Club conducted its fundraiser during the Folk Arts Festival May 7 and 8 at Blue Ridge Community College. Lynn McAuley of West Augusta won the raffle drawing, which was for a wooden rocking horse handcrafted and donated by member Raymond Teter. AARP hear about retirement community MOUNT CRAWFORD The AARP, Staunton Chapter 1650, met for lunch May 4 School Technology Student Association placed in these categories during the state competition in Hampton: Technical Research and Report Writing, Brianna Teerlink, first place; Imaging Technology, Annamarie Losh, third place; Film Technology, Richard Quillen and Chris Belskey, fourth place; and Medical Technology, Teerlink and Yvonne Young, fourth place. The club is now eligible to participate in the national conference, scheduled for June 28 through July 2 at Chicago, Ill.

Miss Rowe is a 1991 Buffalo Gap High School graduate and a 1995 graduate of James Madison University, where she received a bachelor's degree in geology and environmental engineering. Miss Lovegrove is the granddaughter of Charles and Ruby Cline of Fishersville, Geneva Burton of Stuarts Draft, Charlotte Lovegrove of Staunton and the late Wilbur Lovegrove. She is the great-granddaughter of Onietta Cline of Verona and the late Glen Cline.
