The News Leader, Tuesday, November 5, 2002 www.newsleader.com Death Notices Fay W. Riddle, 96 STAUNTON Fay W. Riddle died Sunday (Nov. 3, 2002) at Avante at Waynesboro nursing home. He was born March 13, 1906, at Augusta County, to Minnie B.

and William H. Riddle. He retired from Worthington Hardware. Mr. Riddle was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Martha D.

Riddle. Survivors include a daughter, June R. Huff of Waynesboro, and a son, Donald 1 L. Riddle of Rocky Mount. Graveside services will be at 2 this afternoon at Thornrose Cemetery.

Visitation will be at any time at 448 Raleigh Court, Stratford Commons, Waynesboro. Hamrick Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Ethel M. Coffey, 80 STAUNTON Ethel Gene- va (Maupin) Coffey, of 2510 "Third Street, died Monday (Nov. 4, 2002) at Augusta Medical Center.

She was born March 18, 1922, at Batesville, to Joseph Allen and Margaret Jean (Newton) Maupin. Prior to retirement, she was employed at the Stonewall Jackson Hotel. Mrs. Coffey was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters. Survivors include her husband, Franklin Lee Coffey; and her children, Barbara Jean Morris, Robert Lee Coffey, Peggy Jane Moore, Doris Ann Baugh, Charles Franklin Coffey and Joseph Allen Coffey.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Henry Funeral Home. Burial will be at Oak Lawn Mausoleums and Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and at other times at the residence.

Anthia W. Critzer, 70 WAYNESBORO Anthia Bell Weeks Critzer, of 115 Eastside Highway, died Sunday (Nov. 3, 2002) at her home. She was born April 24, 1932, at Waynesboro, to Carl W. and Lola Kirby Weeks.

Mrs. Critzer was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jesse Junior Critzer; and a brother, Lloyd Hansford Weeks. Survivors include two daughters, Janet Argenbright of Waynesboro and Deborah C. Brown of Crimora, and a son, Alvin B. Critzer of Buena Vista.

Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard Driver Miller; two brothers, William and Eugene Lovelace; a sister, Rebecca Cobb; and two half brothers, James and Charles Lovelace. Survivors include two daughters, Dale Martin of Lynchburg and Jane Brown of Ruckersville; and a sister, Dorothy Quick of Staunton. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Augusta Memorial Park.

8. ETHEL M. COFFEY STAUNTON, VA Mrs. Ethel Geneva (Maupin) Coffey, 80, of 2510 Third Street, Staunton, wife of Franklin Lee Coffey, died at 5:44 a.m. Monday (November 4, 2002) in the Augusta Medical Center, Fishersville.

She was born on March 18, 1922 in Batesville, a daughter of Joseph Allen and Margaret Jean (Newton) Maupin, Prior to retirement, Mrs. Coffey was employed by Stonewall Jackson Hotel. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Daniel Lee Jordan, three brothers and two sisters. Surviving in addition to her husband, are her children and their spouses, Barbara Jean Morris and her husband, Earl; Robert Lee Coffey and his wife, Alice Jean, Peggy Jane Moore and her husband, Rick, Doris Ann Baugh and her husband Steve, Charles Franklin Coffey and his wife, Carolyn Coffey, and Joseph Allen Coffey and his wife, Mary Ellen; eleven grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren; a number of nieces and a nephew.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday (November 7, 2002) in the Henry Home Chapel by the Rev. Clay Sterrett. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Bobby Morris, James Morris, Jeff Biby, Russell Coffey, Chris Coffey, and Luther Maupin. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 Wednesday evening (November 6, 2002) in the funeral home and other times at the residence. CALVIN BROWN FADELY EDINBURG, VA Calvin Brown Fadely, 78, of Edinburg, passed away Saturday, Nov. 2, at Harrisonburg Health and Rehabilition center. A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m.

at union Forge United PAID Methodist Church in Edinburg. Reverend Susan Alger will officiate. Burial will be private. Mr. Fadely was born February 26, 1924 in Edinburg, son of the late Harry Daniel and Ella Brown Fadely.

He attended Edinburg High School. He was employed by Echols Brothers Inc. in Staunton for 50 years where he worked as a grading foreman, superintendent, chief estimator and Executive Vice President. He continued as an estimating consultant after retirement. He was a former member of Staunton Elks Lodge and a member of Waynesboro Elks Lodge where he served on the Building and Grounds Committee, House Committee and Pool Committee.

he received the Outstanding Senior Award, 1991-1992 Elk of the Year Award, and was elected to life membership in 1999. he was a member of the Winchester Gun Club, Nation Rifle Association, National Wild Turkey Association, Ducks Unlimited, Virginia Roadbuilders Association and the Union Forge United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by two sons, Gary Brown Fadely and Lewis Walter Fadely; two sisters, Evelyn Peer and Clara Stultz and brother Douglas Fadely. He is survived by his wife, Irene Walter Fadely; son, Barry C. Fadely and his wife, Rebecca Beasley Fadely of Edinburg; three daughters, Donna Fadely Boone of Leesburg, Ella Catherine Fadely Dalke and her husband, J.

Timothy Dalke of Woodstock and Meta Sue Wender and her husband, William M. Wender of Woodstock; brother, John Robert Fadely of Front Royal; daughterin-law, Nancy Fadely of Mt. Jackson; 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will grandsons; Neil Fadely, David Spence, Darren Spence, Sean Wender, Bryan Wender, Eric Dalke, Jason Boone, Barry D. Fadely and Nathan Wender.

He is predeceased by his parents and his wife of 65 years Martha D. Riddle who died September 15, 1995. He is survived by his daughter, June R. Huff of Waynesboro, and a son Donald L. He is also suvived by 10 GreatGrandchildren. He retired from Worthington Hardware after 43 years of service. Mr. Riddle was a member of the Staunton Masonic Lodge 13 A.F. A.M.

Vella Mae (Lovelace) Miller, 82, widow of Richard Driver Miller, died at 7:25 p.m. Sunday (November 3, 2002) in the Martha Jefferson Hospital, Charlottesville. She was born on August 5, 1920 in Gastonia, NC, daughter of Martin Monroe and Bertie Mae (James) Lovelace. Mrs. Miller was a former employee of Genesco Greif Companies and in later years was a homemaker.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Concord and was a former member of Calvary Baptist Church of Staunton. In addition to her parents and her husband, who died on December 12, 1984, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William Lovelace and Eugene Lovelace; a sister, Rebecca Cobb, and two halfbrothers, James and Charles Lovelace. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Dale and Bentley Martin of Lynchburg, and Jane and 1 Tim Brown of Ruckersville; a sister, Dorothy Quick of Staunton, and two grandsons, R. Gregory Martin and his wife, Patricia of Lake Mary, FL and Evan M. Brown of Ruckersville.

A service will be conducted at 2 p.m.. Wednesday (November 6, 2002) in Augusta Memorial Park by the Rev. Dan Carlton. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12 noon until 2 p.m. in the Henry Funeral Home after which time the family will follow in a procession to the cemetery for a graveside service.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Lynchburg Trinity United Methodist Church of Concord.
