6, 1998) in Stonewall Jackson Hospital, Lexington. She was born April 20, 1930 in Rockbridge County, a daughter of the late Jack L. Painter and Myrtle Wheeler (Painter) Coleman. Mrs. Jenkins was a member of the First Brethren Church, Buena Vista, yet had not been able to attend due to declining health.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Dennie E. Painter. Surviving were her husband, William E. "Jack" Jenkins, Vesuvius; one daughter, Mrs. Brenda J.

Lynn, Richmond; one brother, Glennie L. Painter, Buena Vista; bnc sister, Mrs. Joyce C. Ruff, Lexington; two grandchildren, Shannon L. Lynn, Richmond and Jackie M.

Lynn, Hermosa Beach, Calif, and nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be at 1 1 a.m. Wednesday in Green Hill Cemetery, Buena Vista, by the Rev. E. Arnold Bradley.

Harriet Virginia (Gayheart) McCrory, 92, widow of Albert B. McCrory, formerly of Plaza Apts, died at 7:14 :p.m. Sunday (Sept. 6, 1998) in the Augusta Medical Center, Pictiprcvillp ington, was charged with failure to yield after a crash at 9 p.nu Friday on U.S. 340 at Va.

Byrd's car in the rear, causing her car to hit Ms. Hillard's car, police said. Police estimated damage to Ms. Hillard's 1995 Subaru sedan at $200, damage to Byrd's 1996 Honda van at $5,000 and damage to the juvenile's car at $3,000. Ms.

Byrd was taken to Augusta Medical Center, where she was treated and released, according to a hospital spokeswoman. Reckless driving MIDDLEBROOK Jamie R. Robinson, 22, of 151 Foxfield Drive, Staunton, was charged with reckless driving after a crash at 6:20 a.m. Saturday on U.S. 11 0.3 mile north of Va.

694, according to Virginia State Police. Police said Ms. Robinson ran off the road and hit a reflector post, shrubs and a tree. Police estimated damage to her 1989 Mazda van at $4,000, damage to the reflector post, owned by the Virginia Department of Highways, at $25 and damage to the shrubs, owned by Glenn T. Shickel of Rt.

2, Box Staunton, at $100. Ms. Robinson was taken to Augusta Medical Center, where she was treated and released, according to a spokeswoman. Improper lane change STUARTS DRAFT Teresa C. Bretches, 26, of 609 Gloucester Road, was charged with improper lane change after a crash at 8:20 a.m.

Saturday on Va. 608 0.1 mile south of Va. 340, according to Virginia State Police. Police said Ms. Bretches tried to make a left turn from the center lane into a service station and hit a car driven by Roy S.

Huffman, of Box 324, which was in the left turn lane. Police estimated damage to Ms. Bretches' 1997 Honda sedan at $1,500 and damage to Huffman's 1988 Chevy sedan, owned by Teresa D. Huffman of Box 324, at $800. Huffman was taken to Augusta Medical Center, where he was treated and released, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

Failed to yield STUARTS DRAFT Mary W. Burks, 75, of 2032 S. Arden, Gov- and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Augusta Memorial Park by the Rev.

John McLean. The family will receive friends from 7-8 tonight at McDow Funeral Home and at other times at her residence. Ruth B.H. Peterson ARLINGTON Ruth Bailey (Henderson) Peterson, 80, of Arlington and formerly of Staunton, died Monday (Sept. 7, 1998) at Fairfax Nursing Center.

She was born Aug. 4, 1918 at New Jersey, a daughter of Lloyd and Hazel (Bailey) Henderson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, W. Jerome Peterson, who died Sept. 21.

1997. Surviving are a brother, Peter Henderson of New Jersey; a daughter, Nancy Peterson Hemenway of Arlington; a son, Craig M. Peterson of Staunton; and three grandchildren, Zoe Amanda Hemenway and Matthew and Allen Peterson. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday by the Rev.

24401. Roscoe Moats MOYERS, W.Va. Roscoe Moats, 58, of Moyers, died Saturday evening (Sept. 5, 1998) at his residence following an apparent heart attack. He was born Aug.

13, 1940 at Moyers, a son of Cameron Moats and Gladys (Strother) Moats. He was a farmer and cattleman. He was a member of the Moats Chapel A.M.E. Church at Moyers. On Sept.

20, 1985, he married Thelma Moats, who survives. He also is survived by a son, Francisco Newman III of Roanoke; a daughter, Cleriece Pressley of Charleston, W.Va.; three sisters, Clara Johnson of Staunton, Ruby Moats of Moyers and Geneva Wright of Franklin, W.Va.; five brothers, Otis Moats of Staunton, Clarence Moats of Moyers, Hank Moats of Staunton, Charles Whitney Moats of Franklin, W.Va. and Eldon Moats of Washington, D.C.; and one step-grandson. A service will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Moats Chapel A.M.E.

Church by the Rev. Cordell Bennett. Burial will be in the Moats family cemetery at Moyers. Memorials may be made to the Moats Chapel A.M.E. Church in care of Gloria Moats, Moyers, W.Va.

Leatha T. Collins CHURCHVILLE Leatha Arbugice Taylor Collins, 74, widow of Leonard Collins, of 560 Dry Branch Road, died Monday morning (Sept. 7, 1998) in Lin-colnton, while on vacation. 24401. David W. Rusmisel FISIIERSVILLE David W. "Russ" Rusmisel, 69, died Saturday morning (Sept. 5, 1998) at a daughter's residence.

He was born June 1, 1929 at Augusta County, the son of the late John VanBuren and Georgie (Jackson) Rusmisel. He retired from Smith's Transfer in 1987 with 31 years of service and was a member of Teamsters Local Union 29. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, David Lee Rusmisel; two brothers, James and William Rusmisel; and one sister, Catherine Fitzgerald. Surviving are his wife, Rose B. Rusmisel; four sons, Steve and Daniel Rusmisel of Fishersville, Roger Rusmisel of Staunton and Randall Rusmisel and his wife Melissa of Staunton; three daughters, Tammy and Lisa Rusmisel of Fishersville and Darlene Rusmisel of Staunton; one broth-" er, Lou G.

Rusmisel of Kinston, N.C.; one sister, Leona Baber of Waynesboro; one grandson, Justin: and a granddaughter, Amanda Ott, along with several nieces and nephews. A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Reynolds Funeral Service of Waynesboro. 22939. Virgie M. Glenn WAYNESBORO Virgie Mae Glenn, 76, of 1021 E. Main died Sunday morning (Sept. 6, 1998).

She was born July 11, 1922 at Augusta County, a daughter of Charlie N. and Myrtie Marshall Sipe. She was a longtime member of Second Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carthon William Glenn; two sisters, Arlene Bree-den and Daisy Sipe; and two brothers, C.W. and R.L.

Sipe. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Catherine E. "Betty" and Eddie A. Landes Sr. of Greenville; grandson Eddie A.

Landes Jr. of Greenville; a special niece, Brenda Edwards Smith of New Hope; and other nieces Gayhart and Harry B. Gayhart, and two sisters, Beulah G. Shoemaker and Ruby G. Leslie.

A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday (Sept. 9, 1998) in the Bethel Presbyterian Church by the Revs. Roy W. Howard and Clifford D.

Caldwell. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Ben T. Law, Donald Shoemaker, Charles Beard, Billy H. Wade, Jon A.

Bush, and Paul Law. Honorary pallbearers will be William C. Nancy Cason, Kenneth Carol Shoemaker, Mait-land Carey, Danny F. Gayhart, Douglas Caldwell, Dale K. Smith, and Guy D.

24401. Pd Obit Sharon Lee Herbert BUENA VISTA Sharon Lee Herbert, 56, died Monday (Sept. 7, 1998) at her residence. She was born in Point Pleas- ant, N.J., on March 9, 1942. She was a daughter of the late Wilbur Gifford and Doris (Peterson) Clifford.

She was a member of the St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Wall, N.J. She is survived by her husband, Victor E. Herbert, Buena Vista; three daughters, Vicki DiGuglielmo, W. Long Branch, N.J., Patti Hirschler, Manasquan, N.J., Staci Herbert, Belmar, N.

and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at a later date. Harrison Funeral Home, Lexington, is handling arrangements. Martha A. Hall STAUNTON Martha Alexander Hall, 74, of 105 Harper Court, died Saturday evening (Sept.

5, 1998) at Augusta Medical Center. She was born Jan. 21, 1924 at Staunton, a daughter of the late Dr. Joseph L. and Lynwood Kun-kle Alexander.

She was a former executive director of Staunton West Augusta Menial Health Association.
