John N. Dalton has declared the week of March 22-28 "Brittle Bone Disease Week" in an effort to help the Virginia Jaycees raise $60,000 for a special "mobility clinic" for victims of that disease at Children's Hospital in Washington, D.C. Brittle Bone disease, or osteogenesis imperfecta, is painful, crippling disease of the connective tissue characterized by very fragile bones and teeth which affects 30,000 to 40,000 Americans, mostly infants and children. Recent study has shown that carefully applied physical therapy is an effective means of minimizing the effects of the disease; and to that end, the Virginia Jaycees are appealing to chapters and private citizens all over the state to raise money for the therapy clinic. One Virginia Jaycee chapter, the Eastlake Jaycees, has pledged $100 to fight this disease a and challenges other Jaycee chapters to match or beat that pledge.

Tax deductible checks should be made out to Osteogenesis Imperfecta National Capital Area Inc. and mailed to John Welborn, state chairman, Brittle Bone Disease, Virginia Jaycees, 7825 Glenister Drive, Springfield, Va. 22152.
