BARKSDALE Charles F. Barksdale, 63, of Staunton, was dead on arrival Wednesday night (May 20, 1981) at Waynesboro Community Hospital.

He was born in Albemarle County on May 24, 1917, a son of Jesse L. and Nina Anna (Bowen) Barksdale. He was a member of Holy Cross Episcopal Church. Surviving are a son, Charles F. Barksdale Jr.

of South Baltimore, three sisters, Mrs. Roy Yancey of Greenwood, Mrs. Ann B. Craig of Waynesboro and Mrs. Katie B.

Covington of Camp Spring, two grandchildren. A funeral will be conducted p.m. Saturday in Holy Cross Episcopal Church by the Rev. Howard A. LaRue.

Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ernest, Roy Lee, Scott and Barry Yancey, Frankie Lindner and Richard Davis. Etter Funeral Home is handling arrangments. MRS. DAVID COINER Mrs.

Katie Belle Coiner, 90, formerly of Waynesboro, died Thursday evening (May 21, 1981) in Staunton Manor Nursing Home. She was born Sept. 9, 1890 in Mossy Creek, a daughter of John and Lizzie (Graham) Robson. She le was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the United Daughters of the Confederacy and a charter member of Waynesboro Women's Club. Staunton Surviving and are John two sons, Robson David Coiner T.

of Emporia; three grandsons and three great-grandchildren. Her husband, David T. Coiner, died Feb. 9, 1952. A funeral will be conducted 2 p.m.

Sunday in the chapel of McDow Funeral Home by the Rev. Richard A. Koster. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Walter Hickok, Wilmer Saufley, Thomas Mahler, Francis P.

Floyd, John McChesney, James Jordan, John Yancey and Dan Jones. The family will receive friends from 7-8 Saturday night at the funeral home. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Memorial Fund of First Presbyterian Church or a favorite charity. (Evans) Dunlap, 100, died 9 p.m. Thursday (May 21, 1981) in Oak Hill Nursing Home following a long ilIness.

Born June 13, 1880 near Lone Fountain, she was the daughter of Samuel A. and Eliza Ann (Rohrer) Dunlap. After teaching school for a short time, she spent most of her life doing practical nursing in Augusta County. She was a member of Glossbrenner United Methodist Church. Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be conducted 3 p.m. Saturday in Glossbrenner United Methodist Church by the Rev. Raymond Pettit. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be G.

L. Thacker, Cecil Collins, Harper Brower, H. E. Vaught, Charles Arey and Cecil Altizer. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Churchville Rescue Squad.

Crosier, of Waiteville, W. died at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday (May 20, 1981) in Verona. She was a daughter of G. A.

and Faye (Harless) Bostic. Survivors include three sons, Perry A. of Waiteville, W. G. Donald of Staunton and Richard Crosier of Covington; four daughters, Mrs.

Peggy Karicofe and Mrs. Charles Pumphrey, both of Verona, and Mrs. Emille Sprague and Mrs. Brenda Vaughn, both of White Sulphur, W. Va.

A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Saturday in New Zion Union Church at Waiteville, W. Va. Arrangements are being handled by Broyles-McGuire Funeral Home of Union, W. Va.

Leader, Friday, May 22, 1981 3 MRS. C.J. CAPPLEMAN Agnes Hess Cappleman, a long-time resident of Staunton, died Thursday (May 21, 1981) following a stroke in Los Angeles, Calif.

She was born in Steeles Tavern, on Sept. 17, 1899, a daughter of Eugene Patterson and Angeline (Holbert) Hess. Until February 1980, she resided at 828 N. Augusta St. Her husband, Charles J.

Cappleman, died in July 1954. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church. She is survived by a son, Charles J. Cappleman Jr. and four grandchildren, all of Tarzana, Calif.

Mrs. Cappleman was the last survivor of seven brothers and sisters. A funeral will be conducted 1:30 p.m. Monday in Hamrick Funeral Home by the Rev. Jack H.

Pettyjohn and Dr. Harvey W. Ashby. 1 Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Steeles Tavern.

Pallbearers will be Charles P. Blackley, Edward E. Dudley, Paul B. Miller Melvin Bartley, Ray Houser and Bill Cappleman. MRS.

FRANCES CAMPER BUENA VISTA Mrs. Frances (Burks) Camper, 64, of Rt. 1, Buena Vista, died Thursday at her residence. She was born Oct. 31, 1916 in Rockbridge County, a daughter of Samuel and Ottie (Carter) Burks.

She was owner and operator the Shoe Store. Surviving are two sons, Sandy Jr. of Buena Vista and Dennis Camper of Roanoke; five brothers, Edd of Hamilton, Ohio, Herbert of Covington, E.E. of Roanoke, Lawrence of Phoenix, and Harold Burks of Akron, Ohio; four sisters, Mrs. Leona Everett Durham Coffey of of Elkton, Waynesboro, Mrs.

Sadie Tanner of Florence, and Mrs. Carl Camper of Buena a Vista. A funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday in Harrison's Funeral Chapel by retired Adm. James W.

Kelly and the Rev. A.J. Hawes. Burial will be in Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the residence of Sandy Camper Jr.

Gaynell Huffman, 59, died Thursday (May 21, 1981). She was born Dec. 2, 1921 in Spottswood, a daughter of Jessie Donald and Retter (Cash) Crist. She was the widow of Roy L. Huffman Sr.

Surviving are two sons, Roy L. Jr. of Staunton and Wayne C. Huffman of Greenville; three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Clements of Buena Vista, Mrs.

Jane Newman of Fairfield and Mrs. Lillian Thorne of Waynesboro; two brothers, S.D. of Luray and Harold A. Crist of Staunton; four grandchildren. A funeral will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m.

in Vesuvius Baptist Church the Revs. Michael Fowler and Holley Hensley. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m.

HOMER LAWRENCE WAYNESBORO Homer Edison Lawrence, 73, of 2050 Lyndhurst Road, was dead on arrival Thursday (May 21, 1981) at Waynesboro Community Hospital. He was born in Bland County on Sept. 15, 1907, a son of William and Julia (Starlin) Lawrence. He was retired from Stanley Furniture Co.

with 40 years of service. He attended Wings of Faith Pentecostal Holiness Church. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Bessie M. Lawrence; son, Willie E.

Lawrence, at home; four daughters, Mrs. Donald Brooks, Mrs. Lila James and Mrs. Winston Painter, all of Waynesboro, and Mrs. Wilson Coffey of Staunton; two brothers, Jim of Bluefield, W.Va., and Richard Lawrence of Florida; four sisters, Mrs.

Dorothy Puckett and Mrs. Margaret Bengham, both of Waynesboro, Mrs. Ruby Campbell of Sherando and Mrs. Mary Taylor of Spottsylvania County; 15 grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren. A funeral will be conducted 11 a.m.

Saturday in the chapel of Etter Funeral Home by the Revs. Glenn Wright and Teddy Blankenship. Burial will be in Augusta Memorial Park.
