Other numbers will include "A Colonial Rhapsody" by Madden, "The Blue and the a Civil War suite by Grundman, and John Philip Sousa's "Washington The advanced choir will perform Woodie Guthrie's "This Land Is Your Land" and "God Bless America" by Irving Berlin. An original essay by Miss Sheila Ambler, a senior, will be read with accompaniment by the choir. The girls chorus will present "Skip to My Lou" and "Do, two songs which were arranged by Hawley Ades.

Henry Obaugh of 104 Rosehill Circle; Ellen K. Fitzgerald, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Fort to hold May Day FORT DEFIANCE Fort Defiance High School will hold May Day festivities from 1 30-8 p.m. on Friday.

The observance was started last year, and it is hoped it will become an annual event. Students will attend their regular classes on Friday until 1 30 p.m. Clubs and classes will have food and game booths set up on the school grounds, and students will participate in an "almost anything goes" contest. Later in the afternoon, a "battle of the bands" will be held for cash prizes. The National Honor Society will hold a chicken barbecue, and the food may be picked up from 4-6 p.m.

He is a member of the National Honor Society, SODA, Drama Club, forensics, Latin Club, Science Club and Fellowship of Christian Athletes and is second vice president this year. Robbie, a sophomore, is son of Mr. and Mrs. Z.R. Bashlor of Waynesboro.

This year he is a member of SODA, Drama Club and Spanish Club. Jenny is daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D.L. Bocock of Staunton.

As a sophomore, she is a member of the National Honor FISHERSVILLE The Student Cooperative Association of Wilson Memorial High School has elected officers for the 1976-77 school year. They are: Mark Sensabaugh, president; Jimmy Jordan, first vice president; Robbie Bashlor, second vice president; Jenny Bocock, secretary; Betsy Delong, reporter; Carmel Nacrelli, treasurer, and Patty Brooke, historian. Mark, a junior, is son of Mr. and Mrs. G.L.

Program given at Shelburne A special program on career opportunities in the field of health was given for grade 9 students at Shelburne Junior High School recently. Miss Norma M. Neblett of the health careers program of the Virginia Council on Health and Medical Care was speaker. The asssembly program included a slide-sound presentation describing more than 50 positions in health. Students then asked Miss Neblett questions.

Forest fire threat lessens HARRISONBURG -Saturday's rain throughout the national forests in Virginia helped lessen the forest fire threat, reports George Washington National Forest Supervisor George Smith. The tree cover is well on its way toward greening up, he said. Supervisor Smith, with Supervisor Penfold of the Jefferson National Forest, said the fire restrictions imposed recently concerning camp and warming fires and smoking have been lifted.
