Obituaries MRS. LAURA DECHERT HARRISONBURG Mrs. Harry Lee Dechert died at her home in Harrisonburg Friday (Nov. 5, 1971). Mrs.

Dechert was Laura Ward Wise and was born in Staunton. She was a daughter of the late Peter H. and Annie Roberta (Ward) Wise. She spent the majority of her life in Harrisonburg and was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church. Mrs.

Dechert also was the first president 3 of Spottswood Garden Club. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Richard B. Yancey of Arlington; a son, W. L.

Dechert II of Harrisonburg; four grandchildren, and four greatgrandchildren. The funeral will be conducted 4 p.m. today at Emmanuel Episcopal Church by the Rev. James P. Lincoln.

Burial will be in Woodbine Cemetery. MRS. V.M. VANLEAR CLIFTON FORGE Mrs. Valenza McGraw Vanlear, 73, of 1, Clifton Forge, died Friday evening (Nov.

5, 1971) at Emmett Memorial Hospital. She was born April 24, 1898,: at Charlottesville. She was the wife of Wilfred H. Vanlear and the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs.

Wilson McGraw. Mrs. Vanlear was a member of the Clifton Forge Baptist Church and of the Fidelus Sunday School Class, and of the Ladies Auxiliary of the UTU. Surviving in addition to her husband, are three sons, William Wilfred and Herman L. Vanlear, all of Clifton Forge; one daughter, Miss Valenza Marie Vanlear, who is serving as missionary in Agbar, Nigeria, West Africa; three sisters, Mrs.

Janie Raymond of Richmond, Mrs. Tiny Herman Campbell of Staunton, and Mrs. Mary Fridley of Craigsville; 11 grandchildren and one greatgrandchild. Services will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel at Nicely's Funeral Home by the Rev.

William Mattox. Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Fred Sherman, Charles Tolley, Jack Easter, Herman Priest, Lawrence Houff, E. L.

Matheney, Melvin Couffman and W. M. Mann. H.C.EICHELBERGER VIRGINIA BEACH Hugh Crawford Eichelberger, 78, of Virginia Beach, died Tuesday (Nov. 2, 1971).

He was the son of the late Hugh G. and Sadie (Crawford) Eichelberger and was educated in the Staunton schools before moving his family to the Norfolk area. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Hazel Brooks Eichelberger; three daughters, and two sons; two brothers, George B. and Henry B.

Eichelberger, both of Norfolk. A funeral service was held Friday in Virginia Beach. MRS. W. R.

MOORE WAYNESBORO Mrs. Gladys (Garwood) Moore, 49, of 212 Du Pont died in Waynesboro Community Hospital at 11:30 p.m. Friday (Nov. 5, 1971). She was born in Augusta County on Aug.

30, 1922, a daughter of Ashby and Ethel (Thompson) Croushorn of Crimora. She was a member of Glovier Memorial United Methodist Church, of Waynesboro Goodwill Club and of the Credit Women's Breakfast Club. In addition to her mother and father, survivors include her husband, Wade R. Moore of Waynesboro; one brother, Carl A. Croushorn of Waynesboro; and two nieces.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Glovier Memorial United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Lee Bowman and the Rev. Thomas L. Coffman.

Burial will be in Verona United Methodist Church cemetery. The body will remain at McDow-Tyree Funeral Home and will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Mr. Moore will be at the home of Mr.

and Mrs. Ashby Croushorn in Crimora. The family will receive friends at McDow-Tyree Funeral Home from 7, to 8 p.m. Monday. The family requests that flowers be omitted.

Pallbearers will be Herbert and Clarence Moore, A. T. Thompson, Kenneth Givens, Melvin Hahn, and W. E. McComas.

Honorary pallbearers will be Robert L. Miller, Stewart Johnston, Robert V. Cooley, Ellis Wyant and men of the church. MRS. MARY WADE STUARTS DRAFT Mrs.

Mary Lou Wade, 60, of Rt. 1, Stuarts Draft, widow of Finley M. Wade, was pronounced dead on arrival at Waynesboro Community Hospital at approximately 8 a.m. Friday (Nov. 5, 1971).

Born July, 1911, in Rockbridge County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel L. and Mary (Swisher) Perry. She was a member of the New Providence Presbyterian Church near Brownsburg. Survivors are a number of half-brothers and half-sisters. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m.

Monday in the New Providence Presbyterian Church Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. David H. Coblentz. The body will remain at McDow-Tyree Funeral Home until one hour prior to service time. WILLIAMF.

CAMPBELL STUARTS DRAFT William Frank Campbell, 53, of Rt. 1, Stuarts Draft died at 9:20 a.m. Saturday (Nov. 6, 1971) at Waynesboro Community Hospital. Mr.

Campbell was born in Augusta County on July 21, 1918, a son of Mrs. Pearl (Nuckols) Campbell of Lyndhurst and the late Frank Campbell. He was a member of Stuarts Draft Mennonite Church and had been employed at CromptonShenandoah Co. for the past 31 years. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his widow, Mrs.

Mae (Patterson) Campbell; three sons, Jeffrey L. at home, Robert L. and Charles F. Campbell, both of Stuarts Draft; one brother, Roy C. Campbell of Lyndhurst; four half-sisters, Mrs.

Madge Hess of Waynesboro, Mrs. Nettie Lowery, Mrs. Daisy Fretwell and Mrs. Ora Robinson, all of Stuarts Draft; two grandchildren. A service will be conducted 10:30 a.m.

Tuesday in the chapel of Etter Funeral Home by the Rev. Paul R. Barnhart and the Rev. Charles Ramsey with burial in Stuarts Draft Mennonite Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at, the funeral home Monday from 7-8 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Earl Henderson, Frank Marshall, Manuel Hewitt, J. H. Weaver Charles Boppe and Hershel Bridge. Honorary pallbearers will be Reginald, Jesse W. and Joseph Bridge, Joe Hailey, Harold Johnson and Ralph Martin.

6, 1971) in Waynesboro Community Hospital. She had been visiting her son in Stuarts Draft for the past several weeks. Mrs. Brewer was born in Hambrug, Germany, March 18, 1900, a daughter of Wilhelm and Anna JoHanna Kraberg. She was a member of the Lutheran Church, and was the widow of Horace Paul Brewer.

Surviving are four sons, John W. Cooper and Arthur W. Cooper, both of Newport News, Jessie J. Cooper of Waynesboro, and Edward R. Cooper of Stuarts Draft; one daughter, Mrs.

Margaret J. Plentovich of Suffolk; one brother, Ernest Kraberg of Indianapolis, also 13 grandchildren. The body will remain at the Etter Funeral Home until early, Monday morning. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Greenlawn Cemetery, Newport News, conducted by the Rev.

Martin T. Young, pastor of St. Andrew's' Lutheran Church of Portsmouth. Pallbearers will be Jack Brewer, Julio Plentovich, J. Elwood Forrest, Thomas Cooper, James Cooper and Harry Kari.

Saturday (Nov. 6, 1971) at Rockingham Memorial Hospital. A son of the late Thomas H. and Amanda (Shoemaker) Fishel, he was born on June 18, 1910 at Lost City, W. Va.

He had been employed by Shreckhise Brothers for a number of years prior to his retirement because of ill health. He was a member of the Union Chapel United Methodist Church. On Sept. 11, 1943 he married the former Beulah Oscar, who survives. In addition to his widow, he is survived by five children, Thomas G.

Fishel of Weyers Cave and Roger Juanita and Nancy Fishel and Mrs. Reba Lawson, all at home; one grandson; three sisters, Mrs. Ethel Miller of Winchester, Mrs. Bessie Stewart of Broadway, and Miss Effie Fishel of Harrisonburg; two brothers, Ben Fishel of Broadway and Harry Fishel of Mathias, W. Va.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of the Lindsey and Koontz Funeral Home in Weyers Cave with the Rev. Bruce Pfeiffer in charge of the services. Burial will be in the Union Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The body is at the Lindsey and Koontz Home where the family will receive friends from 7:30 8:30 Monday evening.

John Kidwell, James Irvin, Charles Smith and Vernon Garber. ELMER R. SIMMONS Elmer Russell Simmons, 55, of 2104 Poplar died Saturday afternoon (Nov. 6, 1971) in King's Daughters' Hospital where he had been a patient since Thursday. Mr.

Simmons was born in Pendleton County, W. on Nov. 26, 1915, a son of Harry E. Simmons and the late Effie Mae (Moats) Simmons. He had been employed for many years at the Oscar Nebel Hosiery Mill and was associated with Reid Stores at the W.

Beverley Street store at the time of his death. Mr. Simmons was a member of the Beverley Street United Methodist Church and the Men's Brotherhood of the church. Surviving in addition to his father, are his widow, Mrs. Helen (DePriest) Simmons; a son, Ronald Wayne Simmons of Keswick; two daughters, Mrs.
