Young Samuel Remmel Young, 72, husband of Mary-Jane Nase ofMiddlebrook, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2015, at his residence. r. Young was born Nov.

15, 1942, in Raleigh, North Carolina, a son of the late Dr. Robert Foster and Dawsey (Thomas) Young. Mr. Young was a member ofMount Tabor Lutheran Church. He graduated from Roanoke Rapids High School and North Carolina State University with adegree in Mechanical Engineering.

Sam retired from IBM as a systems engineer, he had a passion for trains, was a member ofthe Augusta County Train Club, he enjoyed traveling the Parkway, bird watching, reading, and hosted a home weather station. In addition to his parents, Mr. Young was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Wimberly James Young. Surviving in addition to his wife of nine years, is a daughter, Ashley Young and her husband, Kyle Knickerbocker, ofSuperior, Colorado; a stepdaughter, Tracy Batten and her husband, Rodney, ofLinn, Missouri; a sister, Angela (Young) Harrell and her husband, aywood, ofEbony; two randchildren, Ronin (Young) nickerbocker and Emica (Young) nickerbocker; two tepgrandchildren, Benjamin Batten a nd Olivia Batten; five nieces, Wendy Young) Lovekamp and husband, Kurt, Cindy (Young) Wollett and husband, Michael, Holly (Harrell) Paddock and husband, Dick, Heather (Harrell) Pliska and husband, Ray, and Heidi (Harrell) and husband, Jeff; grandnieces and nephew, Emery and Forest Lovekamp, Dustin and Ellie Wollett, Hayley and Hannah Huffand Jackson Pliska, also survive. Franklin Christopher James Franklin, 37, ofStaunton, passed away Thursday, July 16, 2015, at his residence. Mr. Franklin was born Dec. 2, 1977, in Charlottesville, a son ofRose Marie (Mills) Smith and James Edward Franklin Sr. Chris was a member ofCalvary Baptist Church, where he was active in various groups.

He was employed with Heath Consultants as a meter reader, he enjoyed music and was an avid Denver BroncosFan. Surviving in addition to his mother of Staunton and his father ofRoseland, is a daughter, Ceauna Jae Franklin and her mother, Shanna Davis, ofStaunton; stepfather, Larry Smith ofStaunton; two brothers, the Rev. Mark J. Mills and his wife, Esther, ofRuckersville and James Franklin Jr. and his wife, Tiffany, of Alexandria; a sister, Shea F.

Miller of Roseland; paternal grandmother, argaret Franklin ofRochelle; and a tepbrother, Darren Smith ofTexas; best riend, Kenny Arkward ofStaunton; and a host ofother relatives and friends, also urvive. A memorial service will be conducted 11a.m. Saturday, July 25, 2015, in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel officiated by the Rev. Mark J. Mills.

Robertson Thomas Winfred Robertson, 83, of365 Marine Drive, died Sunday, July 19, 2015, a his residence. was born July 20, 1931, in Nelson ounty, a son ofthe late Chester D. obertson and Della Ramsey Robertson ite. r. Robertson was a member of Fishersville Baptist Church and retired after 32 years ofservice with General Electric.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Polly Moore Robertson; and a brother, Ralph Robertson. Bowers was born Feb. 13, 1951, in Athens, Tennessee, and was the daughter ofJean Teague Beavers and the late Horace Thomas Beavers. She received her degree from Tennessee Wesleyan College, her degree in education from Berry College and her Library Certification from the University ofWest Georgia. She was the librarian at Wilson Elementary School in Augusta County for the past 15 years, during which time she was recognized as the Librarian of the Year for Virginia. On Nov.

20, 1973, she married Stephen R. Bowers, who survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Laura E. Wyant and husband, David, ofAshland; a son, Stephen R. (Reed) Bowers II of Lynchburg; a brother, Harry Beavers and wife, Debbie, ofEtowah, Tennessee; a randson, Stephen R.

Betty H. Cook Betty Hevener Cook, 6 3, wife ofCharles Cook, of29 Dogwood Lane, passed away Monday, July 20, 2015, at her home. She lost the battle but won the race. he was born Jan. 5, 1952, in Augusta County, a daughter ofWillie (Ryder) Lockridge and the late Edgar Hevener.

Prior to retirement, she was employed by Fairfield Echols as a bookkeeper. Mrs. Cook was a member ofVerona United Methodist Church, the Esther Circle and volunteered at the Food Pantry. She liked to read and work the search and find puzzles, but mostly loved spending time with her family. In addition to her mother and husband of44 years, family members i nclude a son and daughter-in-law, ryan and Ashley Cook; a sister, Sandra Meade; two nephews, Dean Meade and Jeremy Meade; and many good neighbors and church family.

In addition to her father, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Danny Hevener. Agraveside service will be conducted a 11a.m. Thursday, July 23, 2015, in aklawn Cemetery by the Rev. Robert J. Weeks.
