19, 2014. She is survived by her husband, Jerald, and son, Brian Heinicke. A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014, at Hermitage Presbyterian Church, Waynesboro.

Brenda H. Thompson STUARTS DRAFT Brenda Elaine (Hodge) Thompson, 64, wife of Garland Freddie Thompson of 60 Forest Drive, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014, at her residence. Mrs. Thompson was born Jan.

10, 1950, in Staunton, a daughter of the late Charles Ernest Sr. and CHARLOTTESVILLE Fonda Jay (Braxton) Lane, 54, of 101 Vickers Way, passed away Friday, Oct. 3, 2014, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville. She was born April 5, 1960, in Staunton, a daughter of James E. and Janet L.

(Ransom) Braxton. She graduated from Buffalo Gap High School in 1979 and attended Virginia State University. She was employed by King's Dominion amusement park for 32 years and was an area supervisor. She was preceded in death by her father. She leaves to cherish her memories, her mother, Janet L.

Earl (Eugene); two sons, Marcus Duane Lane Jr. and Brandon James Nathaniel Lane; one daughter, Alysia Tenee Lane; one brother, James Rodney Braxton (Cindy), all of Staunton; one sister, Audrey Lynn Morgan (Leroy) of Appomattox; one granddaughter, Gabrielle Willow Lane; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives A funeral service will be at noon Friday, Oct. 10, 2014, at Victory Worship Center, 200 Hammond Lane, Staunton. Public viewing will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery.

Jones Funeral Home, 886-2601. Dorothy May (Bright) Hodge. Brenda was a member of Rankins United Methodist Church. Prior to retirement from Valley Company as a Feed HICKORY, N.C. Carol Brusegaard Grant, 90, of Hickory, North Carolina, passed away Monday, Oct.

6, 2014, at Kingston Manor, Hickory. Born Dec. 25, 1923, in Port Angeles, Washington, she was the daughter of the late Theodore Bernard Brusegaard and Gladys Rhea Brusegaard. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Philip Sheperd Grant. She is survived by one daughter, the Rev.

Christine Hanak of Grand Rapids, Michigan; three sons, the Rev. Ted Grant of Sherrills Ford, Bruce Grant of Rural Retreat, Virginia, and Dr. Evan Grant of Wytheville, Virginia. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct.

11, 2014, at Sweetwater Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Sam Warner officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m. prior to the service at Sweetwater Presbyterian Church. At the request of the family, no flowers will be accepted.

Henry Glen Puffenbarger, 96, of Sugar Grove, West Virginia, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014, at Sentara Rockingham Memorial Hospital.

He was born Sept. 16, 1918, in Sugar Grove, a son of the late Henry and Martha Puffenbarger. Mr. Puffenbarger had worked for the U.S. Forest Service and served in the U.S.

Army Air Forces during World War II. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, senior citizens and Sugar Grove VFW 9666. His wife, Bonnie (Smith) Puffenbarger, preceded him in death. He also was predeceased by his granddaughter, Gwendy Morris; two sisters, Reda Puffenbarger and Pauline Crummett; and two brothers, Berlin Simmons and Emmet Puffenbarger. He is survived by two daughters, Sharon Morris and husband, Larry, of Doe Hill, and Sandra Blythe of Swoope, Virginia; grandson, Travis Morris; three great-grandchildren, Kyle Bradley, Courtney Morris and Scott Morris and a number of nieces and nephews, including, a special niece, Paula Price.

A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2014, at Calvary Lutheran Church with Pastor Jessica Felici officiating. Burial will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery.

The Pendleton County Veterans Honor Guard will have military rites at the graveside. Friends may call at Obaugh Funeral Home and at Glen's home, 270 Bonnie Lane, Sugar Grove. Eagle, 73, a longtime resident of Waynesboro, lost her 7 xh year battle with ovarian cancer Monday evening, Oct.

6, 2014, at the University of Virginia Medical Center. A daughter of the late Nelson R. Burkholder and Ruth Sandridge Burkholder, she was born Dec. 27, 1940, in Waynesboro. After graduating from Wilson Memorial High School, class of 1957, she attended Madison College.

She earned her degree in secretarial science from Ferrum Junior College, graduating in 1960. Pat worked for 20 years as an administrative assistant with the University of Virginia Hospital and five years with Dr. Charles R. Pauly. A member of Fishersville United Methodist Church, she was active in the Nellie Meyers Circle.

There were many things that she loved, such as playing the piano and going to the beach, but none was so dear to her as visiting with her grandchildren, family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Joan Burkholder; and stepsister, Debbie Creef. Surviving are her children, Nancy Ruth Eagle of Charlottesville, Susan Eagle Jones and her husband Gregory, of Waynesboro, Keith Alan Eagle and his wife, Cathy, of St. Louis, Missouri; five grandchildren, Jessica Velasco Bustamante, Cory H. Potter, Reed Malcolm Jones, Meredith H.

Jones and Grace I. Eagle; two sisters, Nancy B. Humphreys and her husband, Kenneth, of Waynesboro, Linda Faistenhammer and her husband, William, of Waynesboro; and her ex-husband, Reed Carl Eagle Jr. of Tampa, Florida. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m.

Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014, at McDow Funeral Home. A celebration of Pat's life will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2014, at Fishersville United Methodist Church with the Rev.

William Wonderley CRIMORA William Jefferson Wonderley, 86, a resident of Crimora, died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014, at his residence. Lindsey Funeral Home in Weyers Cave is handling arrangements. Frank A. Arietta VERONA Frank Alfred Arietta, 69, of 139 Aspen Drive, died at 5:48 a.m.

Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014, at his residence. He was born July 14, 1945, in New York, a son of the late Ralph and Pauline DeBernardo Arietta. He retired as director of manufacturing from secretaryreceptionist, she worked a number of years for Lowe's as a cashier. She enjoyed softball, bowling, camping, the outdoors and cookouts.

Brenda loved her grandchildren and attending their programs at school. Her greatest love was her family. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Thompson is survived by a son, Justin Simmons and his wife, Marie, of Staunton; a stepson, George E. Thompson and his wife, Holly, of Knoxville, Tennessee; two stepdaughters, Wanda Althoff and her companion, Rick Tolley of Waynesboro and Joyce Johnson and her companion, Bobby Leach, of Stuarts Draft; two brothers, Charles E.

Hodge Jr. and his wife, Connie, of North Port, Florida, and David Hodge and his wife, Theresa, of Millboro; three sisters, Janet E. Bouwkamp of Port Charlotte, Florida, Deborah H. Mears and her husband, Tim, of Langhorne, Pennsylvania, and Kathryn H. Crandal and her husband, Rick, of Fort Wayne, Indiana; eight grandsons, Nathan Lane Simmons, Morgan K.

Groah, Dalton Groah, Jacob Leach, Trevor Johnson, Philip Thompson, David Thompson and Luke Thompson; and a goddaughter, Jaiden Faith MacDonald. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2014, at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the residence. A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m.

Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014, at Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastors Charles E. Carroll and George E. Thompson. Burial will follow at Rankins Chapel Cemetery.
