Arehart STAUNTON Susan (Garber) Arehart, 51, of Staunton, passed away Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, in Staunton. A funeral service will held at 11 a.m.

Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015, at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2807 North Augusta Staunton. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Robert E. Hanger STAUNTON Robert Eugene Hanger, 95, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, in his daughter's home. Born Sept. 26, 1919, in Arbor Hill, he was a son of Blair Bowman and Lelia (Clemmer) Hanger.

He was a self-employed farmer and a member and former deacon of Calvary Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ann (Proctor) Hanger; a brother, Frank C. Hanger; two sisters, Anna H. Price and Rachel H. Bailey; and a son-in-law, Richard C.

Erickson. Surviving are his daughter, Martha H. Erickson of Staunton; his son, R. Philip Hanger and wife, Gail, of Staunton; three brothers, George H. Hanger, Blair B.

Hanger, and William R. Hanger, all of Staunton; a sister-in-law, Marilyn C. Freck of Bellingham, Washington; three grandchildren, Abigail Hanger of Williamsburg, Elizabeth Miller and husband, Thaddeus, and Paul Hanger, all of Staunton; and numerous great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan.

28, 2015, in Calvary Baptist Church, officiated by the Revs. Bobby Campbell and Randy Spencer. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Bath County. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in Bear Funeral Home.

COMMUNITY NEWS Nominations open for camp: Nominations are open for the 69th annual Holiday Lake Forestry Camp June 15-20 at Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center. This action-packed camp is hosted by the Virginia Department of Forestry, with support and cooperation from other conservation agencies, organizations, businesses and individuals.

Teachers, natural resource professionals and others working with youth may make nominations for this camp. Nominees must be Virginia residents 13 to 16 years old with good academic standing, have an interest in natural resources and must not have attended Forestry Camp before. Every camper selected to attend receives a scholarship and pays only $85 to attend. To nominate a camper, visit the VDOF website http:dof.virginia.gov forestrycamp. Nominations are due by April 1.

110. Wilmer J. Fitzgerald Jr. CHURCHVILLE Wilmer Jennings "Jerry" Fitzgerald 70, formerly of Amherst, passed away at the home of his sister, Patricia Long, on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, with his loving family by his side.

Mr. Fitzgerald was born Sept. 14, 1944, in Augusta County, a son of the late Wilmer Sr. and Phyllis Mae Fitzgerald. Jerry served his country in the United States Army and was retired from the State of Virginia after holding numerous positions.

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and horseback riding. He was a talented woodworker and was well-known for the vintage wines he produced. In addition to his parents, Mr. Fitzgerald was preceded in death by his Uncle Walter and Aunt Frances Back, who reared him; and a brother-in-law, Ronald L. Long Sr.

Mr. Fitzgerald is survived by his three children; two grandchildren; three sisters, Patricia Long of Churchville, who was also his caregiver, Carol Anderson and Debbie Cincatta, both of Baltimore; special nieces, Cindy Long and Peggy Long, and special nephews, Ronald "Butch" Long Bryan Coats and Jason Anderson; and his very special friends, Chris Pauls, B.J. and Jessie Jones, and Marvin Davis to whom he was known as "Mountain Man." A Graveside service will be conducted at 12 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015, in Oaklawn Cemetery by Pastor Larry Strickler.

It is Jerry's request that those attending dress casually. There will be no public viewing. The family will receive friends following the service at the home of his niece Peggy (Long) Simmons, 1025 Hundley Distillery Road, Churchville. It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions to Hospice of the Shenandoah, P.O. Box 215, Fishersville, VA 22939 in recognition of Laura, Audrey, Mary Scott and Jessica whose loving care and assistance helped Jerry complete his life's journey.

Shifflett MILLBORO SPRINGS Joyce Rose Wade Shifflett, 77, wife of Henry Donald Shifflett Sr. of Millboro Springs, passed from this life to her eternal home on Saturday, Jan.

24, 2015, at Augusta Nursing and Rehab, Fishersville. She was a retired bus driver for Bath County School System. She was born Oct. 19, 1937, in Millboro Springs the daughter of the late Stanley Richardson Sr. and Clara Margaret (McKee) Wade.

She attended Millboro High School, graduating in 1956. Henry and Joyce were also married in 1956. She was a lifelong active member of Calvary Baptist Church, Millboro Springs. She played the piano and organ for many years. She was one of the few that could play the old Putman pump organ.

She was a past member of the Order of The Eastern Star and had served as Worthy Matron. She enjoyed keeping her grandchildren in the summertime and kept her granddaughter, Heather, so she could complete her school year at Millboro. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Henry "Skip" Jr. of Augusta Springs, Cherel Blazer of Great Mills, Maryland, and Norman of Leonardstown, Maryland; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Stanley R. Jr.

and wife, Charlotte, of Luray; sister-in-law, Betty Wade of Fishersville. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Billy Wade, and her granddaughter, Heather Marie Shifflett. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015, at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastors Stanley Wade Jr.

and Darren Wheatley officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, 2015, at Millboro Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Millboro Area Rescue Squad.

Arrangements are being handled by Millboro Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.millborofuneralhome.com. LaDonna P. Pannell STAUNTON LaDonna "Patty" Paulette Pannell, 63 of Staunton, passed away Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, at her residence, surrounded by her family.

Born in Waynesboro, Virginia on Aug. 3, 1951, a daughter of the late Charles Henry Pannell and the surviving, Mildred Elizabeth. Patty was a fighter to the end, courageously battling cancer for two years. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her loving daughter, Elizabeth Baber and her husband, Sean, of Staunton; two sisters, Pamela P. Drumheller and her husband, Robert, of Luray, Rhonda Craig and her husband, Wiley, of Waynesboro; a brother, Charles H.

Pannell II and his wife, Loren, of Fishersville; three grandchildren, Michael Thompson and his wife, Brittany, of Stuart Draft, Ryan Baber and Rachel Baber, both of Staunton; one great-grandchild, Hunter Thompson, of Stuarts Draft; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members. Patty's wishes were to be cremated. A celebration of life will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015, at Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes in Waynesboro.

Family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, 2015, at Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes in Waynesboro. Those wishing to make memorial donation in Patty's honor may be made to the Cancer Center Bridge Fund, PO Box 1000 Fishersville VA 22939.

Davidson, 86, of Goshen, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born on July 15, 1928, in Staunton, a son of the late Robert Edmund and Gunhild Amundson Vang Davidson. Mr. Davidson was the owner and operator of Davidson Logging for 50 years.

He was also a welder, mechanic and a farmer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a wife, Harriet (Griffith) Davidson; two brothers, Sam Davidson III and Robert Ed Davidson two sisters, Helen D. Engleman and Gunhild D. Anderson; and a stepdaughter, Evelyn Louis. Survivors include a son, Matthew Davidson; two daughters, Kitty Davidson and April Davidson-Bowers; a stepdaughter, Eloise Webb; his wife, Lila (Hall) Davidson; and four grandchildren, Sean, Jeffrey, Mark and Anna.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015, at Craigsville Presbyterian Church, 10 Railroad Craigsville, VA, by the Rev. Gwen Carr and Dr. Jan Owen.

Raymond E. Wilhelm STAUNTON Raymond "Ray" Edward Wilhelm, 64, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015, at his residence. He was born Feb. 20, 1950, in Boyce, the son of the late William Everett and Grace Elizabeth (Martin) Wilhelm Sr.

Mr. Wilhelm served honorably in the United States Marine Corps. He was a decorated Vietnam veteran and a life member of the 3rd Recon Association. He was also a talented carpenter. He is survived by a brother, William Everett Wilhelm Jr.

and his wife, Mary, of Staunton; two sisters, Mary E. Wilhelm, of Staunton and Virginia E. Cash, and her husband, Dudley, of Lexington; a niece; many nephews; great nieces and nephews; a great- great niece and great-great nephews. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan.
